Bridlington to Filey

Arose late couldn't bring myself to get up this morning, not surprising considering the amount of ales I had been given the night before lol. Started up the coast the views are amazing

As soon as I reached the lighthouse and found the Headlands Restaurant

I stopped in all such young staff I thort but they were all very nice an kindly made me a burger, while charging my phone in there I met a couple that distance wise put me to shame they were half way through the Lands End to John O'Groats walk incredible! I walked with them for a while but my feet gave out and I had to stop. Two very nice people gave me a lift to Filey -Alex & Zaira- and some very very tasty strawberrys, and the lovely ladies at the Tea Bar sorted me out a meal to be going on with. Thanks as always to everyone that has helped me along today including Charlotte,Maisie, Ash, Tony, Pam, Beryl, Gill, Nancy, John, Alex, Zaira, Emma, Carly, and Zoe I couldn't do it without your help thank you all so much

Beverly and on

So north of Hull I found my self in Beverly

I liked it here it was quiet and the people, of cause, friendly. I had a sleep in a small park, then continued onward heading for south Dalton, but I was struggling to find the B road that lead there. I stopped to get directions in a pub -molescroft inn- as well as directions I made some new friends; Katie (aka Wiggy), Ellie, and the boss Adam

They were proper stars, feeding me, chatting ect. Wiggy even helped me make my new flag

Then before I knew it, it was time to make haste and set up camp for the night. Found a nice spot along the route under an oak tree.

After waking and packing up I started plodding along the path then the road to Dalton, I arived around midday by following the signs to the 'super church' lol

A very nice village and the church was indeed super. Now on my map I have many, many things that lots of people have wrote on it, and one of those things was to see south Dalton and meet some of the people there, another was while here visit The Pipe and Glass. The people were incredible and the Pipe & Glass well, when I walked in I was already impressed, but then I met James Mackenzie, who along with his wife Kate, own the place and had made it the incredible building it now is. I was offered fine local ale, a shower, and a most delicious steak sandwich, and on top of that when leaving I was given a bag of food. I am passed overwhelmed at the kindness of the northern people of this country it really does defy believe! And then as if all that wasn't enough, Andy and his lovely wife Glynis,

Gave me a ride up the coast, and some more food!! So now in or just outside Bridlington all set to follow the coast north and see some puffins. Thanx everyone and check out www.pipeandglass.co.uk/ its fantastic! ;-) TTFN

Hull

It had been a very long day, my feet were hurting everyone I had met had been so nice, but I started on my way north, I hadn't even made it out of the city when the pain in my feet got too much to continue, I stopped at another bar to use the toilet and take the weight off my feet for a bit. When I started to get feeling back in my feet that wasn't just pain I asked a group of lads on the next table how far it would be to the next town -about 7mile as it turns out- but they were all very nice and one man Colin even got me a meal, and another -Glen- ever so kindly invited me to stay at his home for the night. I met his very polite boy -Jack- and pup -Archie- it is truly unreal the hospitality of them, I had a bath and soaked my blistered feet, was given many wonderful cups of tea, and had lots of grate chats. Now morning I feel better than ever and an ready to set off again Thanx guys you are all so wonderful I will miss you dearly.

Botanic Hotel

I found myself here only to use a phone to see about a train to York, but found much, much more. Neil -landlord- was so kind and generous, not only letting me use his phone, but gave me a pint, good conversions, and contacts for near Witby for when I get there. Thanks mate.

The Deep

It was highly recommended that I see the Deep while up this way, so instead of heading for York I went east. Amazing place and very educational, lots of wonderful fish and interactive displays, well worth a look while your here.

Challenge #1

I woke with the sunrise, got packed away a had a read.
Simon found me after a short while from the picture I posted of my view, so we headed over the bridge to the boats. He showed me round and demonstrated the technology they have onboard, tho we would not be on the big girl, they have all manor of satnav and depth readers, and several radios. Humber Rescue have a response time of around 10 minutes, which is incredible as they have to get there and launch and all of the guys work other jobs and only volunteer here. I then met Tony it would be he and I going out in the small boat, he said that the water was looking a bit choppy.
I was kitted up from head to toe in the gear they have, something resembling a whearable sleeping bag, a wet suit, life jacket, and helmet, and we got the boat in the water. Simon stayed on shore to take some photos.
Out on the water I was having emence fun bouncing over the waves, with the spray coming over the side. We wizzed under and back again to be sure of completing the challenge, then returned to land. I made a video under the bridge but can't upload it from my phone, Tony even said I should have taken some pictures while we were still in the water, I can be so stupid sometimes, I will get it in as soon as I can along with all my pics.
So thankyou Humber Rescue, Simon, Tony, and Dave I hope to see you all again. I'm off to the deep now in Hull.

This is getting silly

I'm now in Barton-upon-Humber. My first priority was to fill my water bottles, having run out 3miles I was very thirsty. So I stumbled into the most friendly pub

After a nice chat with some of locals, and a most refreshing glass of ice water, I stumbled out again, not realising I would be returning.
So off I go, thirst quenched, next on my needs list is lunch. Behold I found Taz

And the wonderful Taz's fish bar, the best chips I may have ever had, thanx my sweet.
So now, fully satisfied, I found a park, met the Nickson a lovely couple from up the road, had a long chat, then did a spot of reading & had a nap.
I awoke to rain and a flat phone battery, and promptly went on search of power found in the form of the red lion with Simon the bar keep. Now getting into the evening I felt I better alert Dave from Humber Rescue that I had arived, and stumbled back to wheat sheaf, they had been talking about mhee and all bent over backwards to help as much as they could, more food, drink and fantastic company than I could dream of! And I Dave put me in touch with another chap Simon from Humber Rescue who has Very kindly agreed to let me ride their boat under the bridge. I should tell you how nice this place is but I think you should see it yourself on 6th july there is bike night and around 10000 people will be here and you should too! Sand when you do stop in these places and say hi.
So now I'm all set up for the night and this is my view

wow Grimsby!

I seem to be constantly surprised by the kindness of people that I'm meeting on this journey, and this weekend is no exception. I made it into Cleethorpes as the sun was approaching the horizon. (Not that I could see it for the cloud)

After the rush to get in before the rain I was in a fair amount of pain and sat at the first pub I found, only a minute passed before I was joined by a man Fred, with whom I had a long chat with about everything from the local area, to politics, to people and on. Thanx for the pint aswel Fred.
I was advised to camp near the beach, so I did.
Yesterday morning I packed up around 5am earlier than normal, as to not have to rush into Grimsby.
In Grimsby I spent all afternoon in the peoples park. There is a cafe in this park,

and they very kindly gave me lunch of Jacket potato and chilli, very tasty, this is Tash unfortunatly Sharon diddn't want to be photographed

I met another Fred, and an amazingly well behaved dog, Jay.

But the people I would really like to say thanx to are Jay and Shelly

And the kids Zack, Luke, Levi and little baby Faith.

They really looked after me letting me stay on their sofa feeding me stew and sending me on my way with some supplies. Thankyou soo much all of you. I will like very much to see you again and stay in touch.
From Grimsby I came back to Cleethorpes to see about a boat, met nice lad Rob

in the Kings Royal Hotel on the seafront, a lovely Irish bar.
In the end I wondered round to a sort of Dock in, Grimsby again, where I met John and Dale who were both so helpful and gave me lots of Ideas on this boat. So I visited the ABP and for in touch with Humber Rescue and can now complete the challenge of sailing under the Humber Bridge, thank you all involved and lookout for me going under on Wednesday morning.
So I think that the town of Grimsby and all the people that are so, so nice need an award sorry Alford the title has now been passed on, nicest town goes to
Grimsby!

I can see the sea

At last I'm on the coast with what has got to be 100 miles behind me so far and a lot more to go. The sight of the sea has filled me with joy and I'm looking forward to having a paddle in a little while. The sun came out as I walked along the prom into Mablethorpe, and I swiftly burnt the back of my neck, it is worth the pain for that lovely salty air. I have set up camp on the beach this eve, andd am hoping that the pegs will stay fixed in the sand, not too sure how good of an idea this is but hey gotta be done at least once. I am a little disappointed that I've only raised £10 for Macmillan and I'm sure we can do better the link to donate is near the bottom of this page and the site is www.justgiving.com/me-free

A fantastic place I had pear cider in plenty, a chinese and although I only spent a few hours here everyone that I met treated me like a long time friend thank you Alford and hope you get your windmill up and running again for when I return

Peeps are good!

I am always meeting such nice people. In every town and village I go through so I would like to thank them.

This is Wendy & Terry a very nice couple I met as soon as I got to the beach at Mablethorpe, they have given me the number of a man that might be able to help me with regards to a boat further up the coast.

This is Ron and Eva a nice retired couple from yorkshire that have a caravan on the coast. Can't say I blame them its beautiful. They were telling me about the shore defences their doing, bringing in sand and piling it up to avoid another flood like the one in the 50's that killed so many people.

This is Richard who has a wonderful home not too far from the sea surrounded by fields of cows. There are so many other people but alas I didn't always get pics like Derry, Shawn, Victor, Heidi, Jordan, Luke, Callam, Lauren and Lisa. If I have missed anyone I'm very sorry.
I wish you all the best and can't thank you enough especially Pam I do hope they fix that junction for you soon. Good luck my friends and stay in touch ;-)

Anglia Motel Washway Road Holbeach

This is beautiful, and the people so nice. Thanks to this wonderful place I have had breakfast today, had a good view of an air ambulance flying over, and added a few places on my map to see. The Anglia motel also raises money for the Help our local heroes fund last year over £20'000. If you can make it here for the 27th-29th August there is a vintage clasic and modern motorcycle rally fun fun fun!!

Party with Krishna

Last monday I was invited to join a group to a religious festival honouring Krishna. To avoid confusion I have some info here;

Nrisimha-chaturdasi is the divine appearance day of Nrisimhadeva, Lord Krishna’s man-lion ncarnation, who removes all obstacles on the path of devotional service out of His great incarnation, who removes all obstacles on the path of devotional service out of His great compassion. Srila Prabhupada writes (Bhagavatam 7.8.51, purport) The Supreme Personality of Godhead in His transcendental form of Lord Nrisimhadeva is devotees. To spread the Krishna consciousness movement, devotees have to face many devotion to the Lord must know that Lord Nrisimhadeva is always his protector At Mayapur, Nrisimha-chaturdasi is very special as devotees assemble in great numbers Srimad-Bhagavatam class focuses on various aspects of Lord Nrisimhadeva’s pastimes, usually given by two or three devotees. At dusk a maha-abhisheka is performed to our Deity, technically called Sthanu-Nrisimha because of His standing pose, with sandalwood oil and other precious oils. Since the Deity has performed unbelievable miracles in the lives of several devotees, there is naturally great enthusiasm amongst the devotees. Nrisimhadeva is offered a new dress too. After the arati, anukalpa-prasada [i.e. prasada as on ekadasi] is honored by the devotees. Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura, in his Navadvipa-bhava-taranga, writes of the significance that worship of Lord Nrisimhadeva has for a Gaudiya Vaishnava Therefore, I pray to the feet of Lord Nrisimhadeva to purify my heart and give me the Sri Radha and Krishna at Navadvipa-dhama, free from all obstacles. The devotees aspire for such perfection under the shelter of Sri Nrisimhadeva.

The day started at 3am when I set off to meet Chandra and co. It was a long drive down to a Farm/Temple on the outskirts of London, stopping to thank the sun for rising in our own ways. As soon as we arived and parked up, we headed into the temple, taking off shoes at the door. Everything was bright colours and so much gold.
I don't think that I have ever seen so many happy people in one place at one time in my hole life (with the exception of glastonbury festival)sorry about the poor quality pics(to come) I did borrow a digital camera but couldn't get hold of any battery's for it in time.
We sang and danced the morning away, it was soo much fun... I do have a vedio of some of this but again the quality is low, (if you think you can bare it I'll attach it as soon as I can)
After, we had a dramatisation. I wish I had recorded this too I was enthralled it was amazing, and not without its share of humor. I was given a blessed apple, which was delicious. After all this we moved into the capital for the parade.
It was at this point that my phone finally gave up and died, without my charger like a fool this ended my rain of pictures. When we returned we explored the farm a bit more. They have lots of cows and grow a lot of there own veg.
Now it was time for the feast, and the long drive home.

Lynn... Again..... Wooo!

Back in Lynn, so far there has been one clear day, the day that I arrived, I think the heat is over for now. So I might need to put up with a bit of rain on this journey, I was ready for this.
Tonight I will be camping just outside of west Lynn, hope to get an early start tomorrow morning. Having some minor phone problems and access to this blog. So I have two posts waiting to go up but can't quite upload the pictures, as soon as I can remedy this they will be posted. There is so much going on, its all covered in the other posts, keep checking for updates and talk to me through twitter @mheefree next stop Boston then the wash is behind me and onward to the north TTFN

The Heat

Back in May we were getting such wonderful weather that even I managed to start getting a tan. A lot of this hot spell I spent sunning myself in mousehold, watching the many dog walkers that had much the same idea. Unfortunatly the camera on my phone is not up to taking pictures of fast moving critters so I only have 1 useable one


also made a friend in the form of a caterpillar, I call him Out of focus Harry for obvious reasons



other than tanning I was mostly trying to rip down my kit to the essentials not with complete success. I also found that my tent is too warm in good weather and so am now just using the tarpaulin



I love the openness especially in the mornings when I rise with the sun at around 5am.
